Guardian House Project a MAJOR Success!
With over 90 volunteers contributing more than 613 hours of labor, Rebuilding Together Saratoga completed the conversion of a seasonal porch into a permanent Day Room at the Guardian House-on time and within budget. The Guardian House in Ballston Spa is a transitional shelter for homeless women veterans. None of this would be possible without our community's participation in the Sears Operation Rebuild grant award contest on Facebook which took place in October. Because of your support, we received the first place award of $20,000 which enabled us to accomplish all that we dreamed of. We are proud to say our women veterans now have a space that is their own - warm, safe and dry and most importantly - serene and comforting. We thank all of our volunteers who worked so hard day in and day out. They were driven, focused and intent on giving back to the women veterans who served our country with honor. We also want to thank the following local businesses who provided the needed materials, goods and specialized services essential to the project:
Allerdice Building Supply Ballston Carpet and Tile Correct Energy Environments, Spray Foam Insulation Saratoga Fireplace and Stove Taft Furniture and Showroom Warehouse MNJ Services, Electrical Contracting A. Little, Custom Carpentry
Video produced by Kim Smithgall, Tom Robinson and Bonnie Minick
Thank You from Budd Mazurek, Guardian House Exec. Director
